Clonmel Cllr Pat English says he’ll be honoured to become the town’s next Mayor
The Workers and Unemployed Action Group representative has been serving as Deputy Mayor to Michael Murphy who won a seat in the Dail in the general election and now has to give up his role on the council.
The formal process of appointing a new Mayor will happen next month but Cllr English has already chaired this months meeting of the Clonmel Borough District as a stand in.
He says there are some formalities to go through but he’ll be happy to take on the role until next summer:
“20 days notice has to be given so there will be a meeting in January and the new Mayor will be proposed then and seconded and the Mayor will sit then until June.
“It’s a great honour and I’m looking forward to working in the position for the next six months.”
