A local Cllr is calling on the local authority to prioritise progress on the Thurles Inner Relief Road.
The project to link the N62 near Lidl to the Mill Road with a bridge over the River Suir has been stalled for years due to delays buying up the land needed.
A deal was reached to buy the last parcel of land last year but it took until this year before Tipperary County Council took legal ownership.
Cllr Micheál Lowry says the design of the new road must be completed quickly if construction is to start next year:
“What I am saying is because we have I suppose effectively been stalled out for 11 months at this stage that we need to get our design finalised.
“We need to start working on that immediately with a view to trying to get the project to construction phase, it’s not going to happen in 2025 but we want it to be ready to go in 2026.”
