Clare manager Colm Collins has confirmed his side will contest the red card given to the Banner’s Jamie Malone in last weekend’s draw with Tipperary at Cusack Park, Ennis.

Malone was sent off early in the second half of play for a push on Tipp coach and selector Shane Stapleton.

Stapleton hit his head on concrete as a result of Malone’s actions – and while he initially got back to his feet, he collapsed moments later and had to be taken to hospital where he was kept overnight as a precaution.

Clare’s appeal has to be in by Friday morning but isn’t expected to be heard until next week.

Meanwhile, Clare manager Colm Collins will not appeal a proposed four week sideline ban he received as a result of a verbal exchange with the linesman following the red card incident.
