A Christmas Election could be on the horizon after motion of no confidence

Fianna Fail has tabled a motion of no confidence in the Tanaiste, but the party maintains that an election can still be avoided.

Fianna Fail’s motion will be debated on Tuesday, ahead of a similar motion put down by Sinn Fein.

For its part, Fine Gael is standing behind Frances Fitzgerald but if they continue to do so, a General election before Christmas, is on the horizon.
