Cara Darmody demands state apology on autism services

A Tipperary teenager is holding her first ‘Monster Rally’ at Leinster House this morning.

14-year-old Cara Darmody from Ardfinnan is a well-known disability rights campaigner.

She’s been campaigning for three years now for better services for people with autism.

Her younger brothers Neil and John are autistic and non-verbal and need round-the-clock care.

Cara had been holding regular weekly protests outside the Dáil over the summer holidays but now she says she has to ramp up the pressure on the government.
