Ireland captain Amee Leigh Costigan says the team will learn from their brave losing effort against defending champions England in the Women’s Six Nations yesterday.
The Tipperary town winger opened the scoring with Ireland’s only try in Cork and made a brilliant try saving tackle before they eventually succumbed to the number one ranked team in the world.
Fethard’s Dorothy Wall played 70 minutes, after starting in the second row, in a stubborn performance from the home side that saw them trail by only two at the break 5-7.
The defending champions pulled away with six tries after the break to win 5-49.
Tipp woman Costigan says they gave a good account of themselves in Cork and they will use that momentum for the rest of the tournament:
”Absolutely, we’ll learn from this and we’ll take our learnings into training and bounce
backs and head into the next game, which is so important because we need the performance next weekend.”
