Opposition parties in Turkey are calling for a recount after the country’s president narrowly won a referendum to give him more powers.

The result means Mr Erdogan could remain in office until at least 2029.

However opponents want a recount of up to 60 percent of votes – saying some invalid ballots are being included in the results.

The President called the vote following a military coup saying changes in legislation are necessary both to keep the country safe from terrorism and to build a stronger economy.

He says it’s an “historic decision”.
