Call for public info campaign about Japanese Knotweed

Tipperary County Council is being urged to put a comprehensive plan in place to alert the public about the dangers of Japanese Knotweed.

Like the Rhododendron in the past the invasive species has spread rapidly across Ireland in recent years.

It’s very difficult to control and can cause structural damage to homes and roads.

Currently the council has a control programme to deal with the plant when undertaking road projects.

However Littleton Councillor Sean Ryan feels they need to better educate the public.
