Liam Cahill says it was very important to get a first home win under the belt in the National Hurling League.
The Tipperary Senior Hurlers beat Wexford 1-22 to 0-19 at FBD Semple Stadium yesterday.
Darragh McCarthy once again the top scorer with 1-07 after scoring from the penalty spot for the second game running.
It’s two wins from two after winning in Galway on the opening weekend.
But Manager Cahill says it was crucial that they nailed the result in Thurles.
”Delighted to win the first game of the year in here in Semple Stadium, so it was important
that we got the result. (There were) great scenes to see young kids out in the field here
getting autographs off of their heroes and just, you know, important that we got off to a win here in our first game at home.
”We were very, very conscious all week of Wexford coming up with a big performance
and that’s what they brought. They’re a great hurling county in fairness to them,
and I know they’d be coming after last weekend.”
