Building should start on an award-winning new housing estate in the heart of Roscrea early next year.
The site at Gantly Road was one of just four in the country chosen for a national town-centre housing design competition for architects last year.
An exhibition is opening in the shopping centre today where locals can see all 28 entries into the competition and compare them to the winning design.
It’ll move to the Library on the 17th of September so that schools will be able to visit.
Tipperary County Council Senior Architect Liam Ryan was on the panel that chose the winner.
He says it’s very exciting to see the project progressing now:
“The detailed drawings of their proposal which we now have and they’re gone to the department for what’s called stage 2 approval, which is their more detailed approval including the costing.
“At that stage then we will go through the planning process, either section 179A which we’re hoping will b extended or part 8.
“All going well, we would hope to at least know the builder towards the end of the year after it’s gone out to tender and be starting on site reasonably early in 2025.”
