Shauna Browne says she will be back with a bang following her first loss as a professional boxer.
The Clonmel native suffered a first round stoppage to unbeaten Turkish fighter Elif Nur Turhan in their WBC title eliminator bout on Saturday in Belfast.
The loss is the Carrigeen woman’s first since she turned pro in December of 2023 and sees her record now sitting at 5-1.
Speaking on last night’s Extra-Time, Shauna says the loss could be the best thing that ever happened for her career:
“I’ll dust myself off, lick my wounds, take a week out and I’ll go straight back in to camp again.
“It doesn’t define me in any way, shape or form and nothing about my road to becoming a world champion has changed, it’s a little glitch.
“There’s little things that need to change in my camp and that’s what we will do but other than that I feel fantastic.
“I don’t even feel like I was in a fight at the weekend, let alone got kO’d.
“It was great experience, it was a great show to be on but a learning lesson for me and I think it will be the best thing that will happen me and my career.”
