The HSE Mid-West Regional Executive Officer is giving a ”cast iron guarantee’ that Nenagh’s new C-N-U will be back as a nursing home in 12 months.

The state of the art Community Nursing Unit has been signed over to become a step-down for U-H-L to help with the overcrowding at University Hospital Limerick.

The ongoing crisis has seen a massive indefinite suspension elective and scheduled care at the hospital which serves north Tipperary and at Nenagh general.

Local campaigners have been questioning the promises that the CNU deal is only for one-year.

But Sandra Broderick is insisting that it will be handed back to the residents currently at St Conlon’s when that contract is finished.
