Boylan resigns from Maternity Hospital board

Dr Peter Boylan says he’s resigning from the Executive Committee of the National Maternity Hospital with immediate effect.

The former Master of Holles Street says most members of the board want a new hospital so much that they’ve been blinded to the long-term consequences for the care of women in the future.

He also claims there was there was no motion about his resignation at last night’s board meeting.

But after it’s ‘overwhelming’ vote to continue with the deal Dr Boylan says he’s decided to step down:
