Locals are being asked to turn out in numbers at a rally in Borrisokane this evening.
It’s being organised by the local Liaison Committee in protest over the six refugee families who are being moved out of the Riverside Accommodation centre tomorrow by IPAS.
They say this is despite assurances from the government five years ago that everything would be done to make sure they could stay if they wanted after their asylum status was approved.
The Justice Minister whose department oversaw the agreement in 2019 has told Tipp FM News that the document can’t now be considered binding on the Department of Integration.
Committee PRO Margaret Donnelly wants people to gather at Ss Peter and Paul’s Church at a 6.45 this evening.
