Plans for a poultry farm near Clonmel have been approved by An Bord Pleanala.
This follows an appeal against Tipperary County Councils decision to grant permission for the facility at Caherclogh, Lisronagh.
The proposals from Charlie Purcell was for two poultry houses on a 1.3 hectare site to accommodate 17,500 hens.
An appeal was lodged to An Bord Pleanala by a local household highlighting concerns over odour, noise and the risk to the public water supply.
A state planning appeals board inspector recommended that permission be refused on a number of grounds – however An Bord Pleanala decided not to accept the recommendation and opted to grant permission subject to revised conditions.
