It’s D-Day for Leaving Cert students in Tipperary as the results of the state exams are delivered today.
It’s been a stressful time for them as the majority would not have sat their Junior Cert due to the Covid restrictions.
The results will be available in schools this morning and online from 10am.
However now is a time to take pride in your achievements according to Audrey O’Byrne who is Principal of Rockwell College near Cashel.
“The first thing I would say to the students is congratulate yourself and applaud your achievement. The Leaving Certificate is a significant milestone in our lives and in our education and its important to acknowledge what you have achieved – and to acknowledge and celebrate that with your family and your peers.”
This will have been the first state exam over the summer having missed the Junior Certificate due to the impact of Covid.
Audrey O’Byrne says students should take time to consider the many options open to them.
“If you are disappointed when the results arrive today my advice would be don’t worry. The CAO offers will be issued next week and you should wait to see what offer is made to you.
“There are tertiary courses, PLC courses – alternative options that should be explored. It’s not a straight line for people – everyone can get to where they want to get – it’s not necessarily always in a straight line to our destination.
“My advice is always don’t panic – take some time to think about this. There are many, many options open to you.”
