Tipperary’s Alan Kelly elected leader of Labour Party

Tipperary TD Alan Kelly has been elected the new leader of the Labour Party.

The other candidate in the race, Aodhan O Riordain has conceded tonight.

Deputy Kelly replaces Brendan Howlin, who stepped down from the position following February’s General Election.

He is now the 13th leader of the party, and close to 2,000 party members took part in the vote.
