One of jumps racing’s biggest superstar horses has passed away.

Three-time Cheltenham champion hurdle winner ‘Istabraq’ passed away at the age of 32 at JP McManus’s Martinstown home.

The popular horse was trained in Tipperary by Aidan O’Brien whilst Cloughjordan’s Charlie Swan was onboard for all of Istabraq’s 29 races over jumps.

The pair won 14 grade 1 races together and following retirement in 2002, Istabraq spent his last 22 years at McManus’ Martinstown Stud in Co Limerick.
