JK Brackens are aiming to earn a spot in a county senior hurling semi-final this weekend.

The Templemore side take on Toomevara in their Dan Breen quarter-final on Saturday at 5pm in FBD Semple Stadium.

Brackens had big wins in their opening two group games before suffering a heavy defeat to Kiladangan last time out.

JK Brackens manager Shane Keegan says the break between the group stage sand the knockouts has served them well after a busy period in both codes:

“We were absolutely delighted with how the first two games went there’s no doubt about it, we hurled fantastically well and I think come what we would call games 5 and 6, the final group games for us, I think it just caught up with us.

“I think the workload of playing week in week out probably caught up with us a little bit but look having a break weekend was badly needed absolutely.

“It was a real chance to power up the bodies and power up the legs and get that bit of breathing space for fellas to rest and recover and recuperate and I think we’re back in a good place heading in to this weekend.”
