A nursing home in Tipp town, home to 30 elderly people, had to resort to plug-in heaters to keep the residents warm at the weekend.
Cluain Arann Welfare Home and Community Nursing Unit identified a temporary problem with their heating system on Sunday last.
According to a HSE spokesperson, contingency arrangements were in place through to Monday morning, when the matter was rectified.
