Fears eased after Suir oil spill assessed near Cahir

A spillage into the River Suir near Cahir this week doesn’t appear to have caused any major damage or pollution.

An oil like substance was spotted in the river near the Swiss Cottage on Wednesday afternoon.

Officials from both Tipperary County Council and the Inland Fisheries Board examined the scene.

Environment officer with the local authority, Paddy O’Dwyer, says their examination revealed a relatively small spillage.
