Disgraced Tipp boxer Michael O’Reilly jailed for criminal damage

Disgraced Tipperary Olympic boxer Michael O’Reilly has been jailed for criminal damage following a party in the County last year.
His father was also jailed in connection with the same incident which occurred in Littleton
The 24 year old boxer was before Thurles District court yesterday in connection with an incident in Littleton in April of last year.
The court heard that O’Reilly and his father and brothers had attended an engagement party in the village on April 18th of last year.
Gardai were called to an incident at the event at 5am and instructed the accused to leave the area.
They did, but later returned and threw rocks and bottles at a caravan on the site causing considerable damage.
Despite an offer of compensation, Michael O’Reilly, who has 37 previous convictions, was jailed for 5 months.
His father was jailed for 3 months but both walked went free from court on bonds of 500 euro each, after giving notice that they would be appealing the conviction.
O’Reilly received nationwide attention when he was sent home from the Rio Olympics last year after failing a drugs test.
