It’s emerged another South Tipperary Post Office is set to close.
This time it’s in Newcastle, and the closure is due to take place on January 31st.
It’s part of An Post’s cost-cutting plan in which hundreds of post offices where postmasters and mistresses are due to retire, or who wish to take a redundancy package, will shut their doors.
Local TD Mattie McGrath says the family want to keep the post office in Newcastle open, but the Government and IPU won’t let them.
The local community are set to hold public meeting tonight at 8:15 in the hope of finding a way to stop the closure.
