Unique Event to Thank Essential Workers Across the County

Unique Event to Thank Essential Workers Across the County

This Saturday evening May 23rd at 6pm, for the first time ever, Clare FM and Tipp FM will join forces along with The Clare Herald digital paper to bring a unique event to listeners and followers across both Counties and further afield, by organising and hosting a virtual concert across all their media platforms. The event simply titled “Thank You” is a tribute and a thank you to all essential workers throughout the Counties and beyond for their huge contribution throughout the Covid 19 crisis.

The concert will be broadcast on air by both stations, with the public also having the opportunity to see the artists performing on the stations Facebook pages, on twitter and on their websites. Over ten well known Irish artists will be taking part, the line-up includes, Gavin James, Brian Kennedy, Phil Coulter, Luka Bloom, Mike Hanrahan, Darren Holden, Don Mescall, Maura O’Connell, Tommy Fleming, Joanie Madden and Don Stiffe.

As well as thanking essential workers across the Country and in particular the Midwest, it is also giving a platform to support Children’s Hospice Week and the vital work carried out by LauraLynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice, by asking listeners across the country to donate €4 by texting LauraLynn to 50300. (texts cost €4 and LauraLynn will receive a minimum of €3.60)

Commenting on this unique event, the Stations General Manager, Susan Murphy said “We wanted to do something to acknowledge the amazing work being carried out right now by all our essential workers. Like a lot of ideas, this started out as a small kernel and then grew. We want to thank all the artists for being so generous with their time, to TJ O’Mahony DIY for giving us the support and we are delighted to raise awareness also and hopefully encourage donations for the amazing work that the LauraLynn Children’s Hospice do to support hundreds of families across the Country. We hope the concert will lift people’s spirits and raise a smile and believe it is a phenomenal line up of talent which covers all musical tastes”

A spokesperson for Lauralynn said “We are so grateful to have been asked to get involved in this wonderful event. At LauraLynn music is a huge part of what we do through our Music Therapy sessions and I know this virtual concert will lift the spirts of all of our children and families who are cocooning in their homes right now. This week is Children’s Hospice Week and we have lots of virtual fun and activities for our families and this event will round off the week in style. At LauraLynn we provide specialised hospice and palliative care to 220 families across Ireland. Due to Covid-19 our fundraising efforts have been heavily impacted with a projected loss in donations of up to €2.5m so this support and awareness is truly incredible.’’

The virtual concert can be heard on Clare FM and Tipp FM radio and watched on line at www.clare.fm, www.tippfm.com and www.clareherald.com and on the stations Facebook pages @clarefmradio, @TippFM, On twitter @ClareFM and @TippFM. All starting at 6pm this Saturday
