Thurles Rider crowned World Champion

A young North Tipperary rider has just beeen crowned World Champion today at the FEI World Breeding Jumping Championships for Young Horses in Belgium.

Greg Broderick -and the five year old Irish Sport Horse Man Arraghbeg Clover came through two tough qualifying rounds on Thursday and Friday to earn a place in the final today where 25 horses and riders made it through to the jump-off against the clock.

The Thules native – who just turned 28 – put in an incredible performace which saw him stop the clock clear in 39.72 seconds to take gold.

Silver went to another Irish Rider Bertram Allen from Wexford while Frenchman Guillaume Batillat  grabbed the bronze.

Arraghbeg Clover, who only last week won the €50,000 Breeders Classic final in Ireland, is an Irish Sport Horse mare by the sire Captain Clover and was bred by Agata Leonard and is joint owned by Greg Broderick and Waterford's Declan Orpen

Greg Broderick won the Bronze medal at the World breeding Championships in 2010
