Southampton sign defender Jan Bednarek

Southampton have signed defender Jan Bednarek from Polish club Poznan.

He’s agreed a five-year deal at the Premier League club.

Saints haven’t revealed how much they’ve paid for him.

The Polish under-21 international’s their first summer signing under new boss Mauricio Pellegrino.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have accused Fiorentina of seeking to “extort” money from them and former player Mohamed Salah.

The new Liverpool signing and the Blues have been cleared of wrongdoing after the Court of Arbitration for Sport dismissed a complaint brought by the Italian club.

Fiorentina alleged breach of contract when the Egpyt winger instead moved to Roma on loan for the 2015-16 season in a deal which later became permanent.

FIFA threw out the complaint in May 2016 and, 13 months on, CAS has come to the same conclusion.

Premier League side Watford have signed full-back Kiko Femenia on a four-year contract.

He was most-recently with Spanish top-flight club Alaves.

Femenia is new head coach Marco Silva’s latest addition at Vicarage Road.

Meanwhile, Sunderland chief executive Martin Bain says Ellis Short’s no longer looking to sell the club because he wants a period of stability.

The Championship side’s owner had been in talks with a potential buyer recently.

They cited those discussions as a reason for why it was taking so long to find a new manager.

But after appointing Simon Grayson as boss, Bain says Sunderland aren’t for sale.
