Four more sides in Premier League action today

Four more sides get their Premier League campaigns underway this afternoon.

First up at 1.30 Newcastle United mark their return to top flight football as they play host to Tottenham Hotspur.

It’s been a problematic summer for Spurs, as they’ve failed to purchase any players despite the loss of Kyle Walker to Manchester City.

Meanwhile Newcastle have brought in seven new players, but manager Rafa Benitez has admitted he wished that was even more.

Then at 4pm Manchester United begin a campaign which they hope ends in their first league title of the post-Alex Ferguson era.

They welcome West Ham United to Old Trafford, who’ve been busy in the transfer window.

Among their new signings is former Man United striker Javier Hernandez.

That game kicks off at 4pm.

In yesterday’s games Burnley shocked the league with a 3-2 win away to nine-men Chelsea.

Newly promoted Huddersfield began their first season in the Premier League in style with a 3-nil win away to Crystal Palace.

Wayne Rooney scored the only goal of the game to give Everton victory at home to Stoke.

West Brom defeated Bournemouth by the same scoreline, while Southampton and Swansea finished scoreless.

The lunchtime game between Watford and Liverpool ended in a 3-all classic.
