Sam Bennett runs Cavendish close in Tour of Britain finale.

Carrick on Suir's Sam Bennett has proved once again that he is one of the brightest prospects in the sport at the moment.

He finished second to sprinter supreme Mark Cavendish in yesterday's final stage of the Tour of Britain in London.

The 22 year old An Post Chain Reaction rider recorded a stage win, 2 second places and 2 other top ten finishes on the 8 stage event.

He will be part of the Irish team at the World Road Race Championships in Italy next weekend.

Also taking to the start-line in Florence will be Grand Tour stage winners Dan Martin and Nicolas Roche together with 4 time national champion Matt Brammier.
