Christy Roche calls time on racing career

The 67 year old has saddled Cheltenham Festival winners and was also a Classic-winning jockey.

The Tipperary native hung up his riding boots in 1998 before turning his attention to training.

During his 30 years as a jockey the Bansha man won the Irish Derby three times as well as notching up wins in the Derby and the Oaks in England.

Christy’s son Padraig will take over the training licence.
