Tipperary's Sam Bennett has made a highly impressive debut for Team NetApp Endura.
The 23 year old leads the Young Rider classification in the Tour of Qatar following todays first stage.
The 135 kilometre stage was won by Niki Tepstra of the Omega Pharma Quickstep squad from a four rider break which just stayed clear of the chasing pack with Bennett 14th.
Bonus seconds gained in an intermediate sprint leaves the Carrick on Suir rider 6th overall heading into tomorrows 160 kilometre stage where he'll be lining up against the likes of Tour de France stage winners Tom Boonen and Fabian Cancellara.
