The Championship is officially expected to be moved from August to May later – and the change could be implemented from as early as 2019.
This year’s tournament – the final major of the year – starts on Thursday at Quail Hollow in North Carolina.
If it’s confirmed, there would be a major championship in each month from April to July – with The Open being the last of them.
