Sars overcome Upperchurch in county senior hurling championship

Thurles Sarsfields pulled away in the last 10 minutes to secure a 9 point victory over Upperchurch-Drombane in Group 3 of the County Senior Hurling Championship at the Ragg.

It was nip and tuck for the majority of the first half with Upperchurch leading at the break 1-12 to 1-9.

However, Sars accelerated through the fourth quarter and the game finished 1-24 to 1-15.

The second game of there between Borris Ileigh and Loughmore Castleiney was postponed.

In this evening’s fixtures

In Templetuohy, Roscrea and Mullinahone play at 5, with Killenaule against Kilruane Mac Donaghs at 6:30.

In Nenagh Newport take on Silvermines at 5.30pm in the Seamus O Riain competition.

That’s followed at 7 with the Dan Breen clash of Kildangan and Portroe.

JK Brackens and St Mary’s Clonmel meet in Cashel in Group 1 of the Seamus O Riain Cup – at 5, with the Dan Breen clash of Carrick Swans and Drom-Inch at 7.

And in Moneygall Templederry Kenyons play Clonakenny in the Seamus O Riain champiosnhip at 7.
