“Very proud of my players”- Minor Manager Liam Cahill as his tenure ends

Tipperary Minor hurling manager Liam Cahill has paid warm tribute to his charges as he bows out of the job with his four year tenure coming to an end.

He was speaking after his side narrowly missed out on a place in a Munster final after another thrilling encounter with Cork in their semi final replay last night.

Over 8000 people packed into Páirc Uí Rinn to watch Liam Cahill’s side come from 11 points down in the second half with goals from Kevin McCarthy and Cathal Bourke to push the Rebels all the way.

A point from James Morris two minutes into injury time left just a point between the sides but Cork made sure of things with points from Brian Turnbull and Daire Connery to secure a 2-22 to 2-19 victory.

Speaking to Tipp FM’s Stephen Gleeson and other local sports journalists afterwards Liam Cahill said his players had given their all
