Callanan out of League final

Tipperary will have to plan without the services of Seamus Callanan for this weekends National Hurling League final against Galway.

As was exclusively revealed on Tipp FM’s Extra Time last night the Drom & Inch full forward fractured his thumb in Sundays semi-final win over Wexford.

Next Sunday’s league decider against Galway is likely to be a close affair – the last time the teams met was in the All-Ireland semi-final last year, which Tipp won by a point.

Speaking on Extra time former Tipp player and Galway manager John McIntyre said despite the loss of Seamie Callanan the Premier should be too strong for the Tribesmen.

Wexford may find out today if their manager Davy Fitzgerald will face any sanction for encroaching onto the pitch and tangling with Tipp players during Sunday’s game at Nowlan Park.

The Competitions Control Committee meets today to discuss the situation.
