Kerry and Mayo to be a thriller

Kerry and Mayo meet this afternoon to decide who will be the first team through to this year’s All-Ireland senior football final.

It’s an eagerly awaited tie at Croke Park – as it pits the beaten finalists of the the last two All-Ireland finals against each other.

Kerry have enjoyed a relatively comfortable progression to this stage, seeing off Clare and Cork in Munster before beating Galway in the quarter-finals.

As for Mayo, they’ve got their Championship back on track since their Connacht defeat to Galway, also beating Clare and Cork in the qualifiers while taking two attempts to see off Roscommon.

Former Mayo manager James Horan says his native county have been well tested in the build up to today.

Throw-in at Croke Park is at 3.30, with the minor semi-final between Kerry and Cavan getting the day’s action underway at 1.30.
