Carrick’s Bennett takes lead at Czech Cycling Tour

Carrick on Suir’s Sam Bennett has taken the overall lead in the Czech Cycling Tour.

The Bora Hansgrohe rider won yesterdays 200 kilometre 2nd stage with an impressive turn of speed in the bunch sprint.

Coming on the back of their second place in the opening team time trial Bennett now holds a 5 second lead over Jan Tratnik of CCC Sprandi Polkowice.

He also leads the points classification while Bora Hansgrohe are heading the team standings.

Today the rider face a tough 186 kilometre mountain stage – the race finishes on Sunday.
