Bennett puts in good performance in Tour of Britain

There was another excellent performance from Tipperary's Sam Bennett in yesterdays 3rd stage of the Tour of Britain.

The An Post Chain Reaction rider finished 22nd in the 10 mile Individual Time Trial and was best of the Irish on the day.

The stage was won by Olympic Time Trial champion Bradley Wiggins who also takes over the leaders Yellow Jersey.

Disappointing news for another Irish rider though with Philip Deignan crashing out of the stage and fracturing his collarbone.

22 year old Bennett from Carrick on Suir had been in the running for the 4th spot on the Irish team for the upcoming World Championships – Deignan's injury would suggest that Bennett is now likely to be included.
