The Bora Argon 18 team had been to the fore as the race came down to a bunch sprint which was won by Alexander Kristoff of the Katusha team.
However 24 year old Bennett – who won the final stage of last week's Tour of Qatar – failed to get in the mix at the end.
Tomorrow's 189 kilometre stage finishes atop Green Mountain.
