The Toomevara native won 2 All-Irelands and 5 Munster titles in a 13 year inter-county career.

While current hurling fullback and Upperchruch Drumbane native James Barry described him as an excellent leader both on and off teh pitch – providing a great service to Tipp.

Thurles Sarsfields and Tipp star Padraic Maher said it was very sad to let a good man go and said best wishes to a legend – Maher also quipped that the “lefties brigade are a man down”
