Tributes paid to Tipperary storm victim

Flags are flying at half mast at LIT campuses in Tipperary and Limerick today.

It follows the death of Michael Pyke from Ardfinnan during Storm Ophelia yesterday.

He was killed when he was hit by a falling branch while trying to clear a tree from the road at Ballybrado between Ardfinnan and Cahir yesterday.

Michael was a mature student at the Institute.

Vice President of Academic Affairs at LIT Terry Toomey says he will be missed by his classmates and staff at the Institute.
