Tipperary plant plays a major part in Coillte success story

Coillte plants in Clonmel and Waterford are being credited with the company's radical transformation under the Destination 2012 strategy.

This saw Coillte jump from exports of 10 per cent in 2007 to 65% today.

Meanwhile Chief Executive David Gunning said a new initiative to produce more green homes in Britain will create a spin-off for Coillte.

He said the company earned more than €12 million in revenue from new products last year which underlined the strong emphasis on innovation within the firm.

The media centre at London's Olympic Games has been constructed using MDF timber product from Coillte's Medite plant in Clonmel.

The sub-floor of the Olympic cycling velodrome was made of OSB product from Coillte's Waterford plant. .
