Tipperary homelessness raised in the Dáil

The issue of homelessness in Tipperary has been raised in the Dáil.

The lack of suitable rental accommodation is being blamed for the significant increase in the number of people presenting as homeless in the Premier County since the turn of the decade.

During Leaders Questions Tipperary TD Michael Lowry highlighted the plight of the growing number of people facing being homeless not just in our cities but across the country.

Responding to Deputy Lowry, Housing Minister Simon Coveney accepted that the homeless problem is a major issue which needs to be tackled.

However he said the Government has already made significant progress.
