Leo Varadkar’s comments came in the wake of a 10% increase in the charge in the Premier County for next year despite strong opposition from some members of Tipperary County Council.

Meanwhile Dublin City Councillors will vote on the LPT at a special meeting tonight.

Some representatives are calling for a full 15% reduction for householders again next year.

Others are arguing that it will lead to a cut in services if the rate remains unchanged.

Speaking to Tipp FM during his recent visit to Tipperary Leo Varadkar said the Local Property Tax is necessary.
