Council votes in favour of Adoptee Identity Rights

Tipperary County Council has unanimously voted to uphold Adoptee Identity Rights.

The motion raised by Councillor David Dunne won cross party support at this weeks meeting of the authority following which a letter will now be sent to Minister for Children and Youth Affairs Katherine Zappone.

The right to equality and personal autonomy of all citizens has been voted on in 2 previous referenda and this appeal on behalf of adoptees will grant them access to information on their health, history and heritage.

Councillor Dunne says he was honoured to bring this issue to light in Tipperary.
