Members of Tipperary County Council have voted unanimously to lobby RTE to boycott next year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Israel.

A decision has been taken to hold the prestigious music contest in Tel Aviv, rather than the deeply contentious venue of Jerusalem.

The council members voted in an act of solidarity with the Palestinian people, who have experienced acts of violence at the hands of Israeli Defence Forces.
