Tipp Gardaí to focus on motorways used by travelling criminal gangs

This follows a spate of incidents across the county in recent weeks – culminating in the death of a woman on the M7 near Kildare last night.

The vehicle which struck her car was believed to have been involved in criminal activity in Tipperary earlier in the evening.

Operation Rim will be in place at different times and different locations on Tipperary’s motorways from next Wednesday up until Christmas.

The high-visibility campaign by Gardaí in Tipperary will target the M7 and M8 in a bid to deter travelling criminal gangs who have been raiding the Premier County of late.

Thurles has been hit on a number of occasions while last night it's understood there were a number of incidents in the Nenagh area.

Inspector Eddie Golden of the Tipperary Traffic Corps says Operation Rim will be very visible.
