Tipperary has the highest number of people signed up to a Text Alert service.
There are a total of 94 text alert schemes in the Premier County with over 21,500 subscribers – this is over 6,000 more than any other county.
Nationally the number of people signing up to a text alert service from their local Gardaí has more than doubled in just three years.
Figures from the Garda Crime Prevention National Centre of Excellence show that as of April 2017 there were more than a thousand of the schemes around the country.
Inspector Eddie Golden of Cahir Garda Station says the scheme has already proven very succesful in the Premier County.
