Tipperary’s allocation under the Local Improvement Scheme has been described as derisory.

The funding is used to carry out improvement works on non-public or private roads with local householders contributing a percentage of the cost.

Of the 10 million announced by the Department of Rural and Community Development just 237,000 is coming to the Premier County.

This is the 3rd lowest allocation in the country despite Tipperary being one of the largest counties.

Moyne based Councillor John Hogan says the funding is simply not enough.
