Tipp man calling for accountability after data is stolen

A Tipperary man whose personal data was stolen is calling for accountability.

The information of 51 year old John Cash was stolen from the car of a Department of Social Protection employee.

The files including PPS numbers, together with those of three other people were taken from a carpark in Clonmel in 2014.

The Data Commissior did rule that the Department in question failed to ensure that appropriate security measures were in place
but has yet to contact those affected.

Speaking to Tipp FM, John Cash said he is looking for answers to ensure something like this doesn’t happen again.
