2,330 Fixed Penalty Points were cancelled by Gardaí in Tipperary according to a report by the Garda watchdog.

GSOC has published its report into the controversy which shows that the Premier County accounted for 3% of the 74,000 cancellations between 2009 and 2012.

Nearly 47,500 Fixed Penalty Notices were issued in Tipperary during that time period.

The Garda watchdog says too many Gardai were allowed to cancel points, while some senior officers were cancelling points outside their designated areas.

One officer cancelled 744 fixed charge notices across 17 counties.
